What is my upcoming book about?
My debut novel is a contemporary love story set in Australia as the Afghanistan conflict comes to a close. An archivist rebuilding her life draws an army officer back into the memories he’s sworn to bury. As their quiet attachment grows, shared truths risk uncovering far more than either intended.
I write from personal experience, as well as doing extensive research. I spoke to a brilliant archivist during the writing and research phase who works with the Defence community. A couple of generous service members (current and former), gave their time to read and provide feedback.
As a former history teacher and a librarian, I appreciate the value of fact checking and having a wide range of perspectives from which to draw. That said, I am not a member of the veteran community, although I have worked with soldiers during my library day job. I’m not, and never would claim to be, an expert in these areas. The issues in my book are way too important not to talk about, but must be handled with sensitivity and humility. I hope I have done so but I am always open to feedback.

I have a couple of critique partners I work with regularly. I love contemporary romance, monster romance, romantic comedy and romantic tropes within the Science Fiction genre.
